Michael's Early Years

Carriage driving opens new worlds for people with disabilities. With new friends made at combined driving competitions Michael and friends set out to show the world that people with disabilities need not be limited by the challenges they face. They would challenge their limits. With an international team, they set out to drive wheelchair accessible horsedrawn carriages across the United States from Mission San Diego, California to Washington DC. The trip took ten months. A couple of years later, Michael and Cindy Goff followed his great-grandfather John Muir's 1000 Mile Journey to the Gulf. An important aspect of both treks was their visits to schools, hospitals and rehabilitation centers wherever they traveled. They learned what a liberating and healing force was at work.
